Honoring our Fallen Police Officers: Custom Metal Sculpture Fabrication

Budde Sheet Metal Works is honored to have played a role in bringing the new Montgomery County Law Enforcement Memorial to life. A project recently featured in the Dayton Daily News.

The memorial’s design, envisioned by artist James Dinh, called for five towering, 30-foot spires. Each structure rises upward with a woven lattice pattern that symbolizes strength, unity, and remembrance. For Budde’s team, the challenge was to transform this artistic vision into durable, precisely engineered steel forms with our custom metal sculpture fabrication services that would stand the test of time.

Each spire began as flat steel panels, cut on CNC lasers to create the intricate interlacing pattern. From there, the panels were formed and welded into triangular towers, with every seam reinforced for structural strength without compromising the clean design. Once assembled, the spires were fitted with mounting points, checked for accuracy and prepared for delivery. The final stage, transporting, lifting, and anchoring each 30-foot spire took place along the Great Miami River.

The memorial honors fallen officers who have given the ultimate sacrifice for their community. For Budde Sheet Metal Works, it was a privilege to contribute to such an important civic project and to demonstrate how our custom metal sculpture fabrication capabilities can bring meaningful public art and architectural designs to life.

This project is a testament to what’s possible when craftsmanship and community come together.
